Day One: We spent a good 20 hours in the van, a 15-passenger monstrosity for a grand total of four people. Only three other students came on the trip. We got into New Orleans at about 4 am local time, and our hotel's front desk didn't open until 7 am. So, we took a brief tour of the city, looking for food. No food, folks, but plenty of liquor. All of the 24-hour joints that promised chow were closed or tapped, and it was hard to think about getting drunk. It did, however, give us the opportunity to see what a major American city would look like with a trash bomb detonated on it.
